dimmer switch 2red 1 blk 1 green. wall has 2 blk 1 red 1 green (ground) how do i hookk it up?

I agree with scott in that it is probably a 3-way circuit. A 3-way is simply when two switches control the lighting. (Sorry if you already knew that). Note: Even though two switch boxes may be present only on can be a dimmer. Make sure it is a 3-way dimmer. Turn off the circuit at the panel box. Next, locate the "TRAVELERS" in your switch box. They should be one black and on red (possibly they where twisted together?) They will be coming from the same romex wire. Then find the wire on the dimmer labeled "COMMON" most likely that Black One. Connect the travelers to the two red dimmer wires, if the black is the labeled common. If is not clearly marked, check the booklet it came with. Which ever wire on the dimmer is labeled common, connect the travelers to the two dimmer wires remaining. The just wire the last black to the dimmer's common wire. Make sure you shut that breaker off first. I think that this will work for you. E-mail me and let me know how it went or if you need me to answer another question or two. Good Luck.
