How to properly dive off a diving block?
I am on a swim team and I am pretty short. I have dived into the water for practice and it just absolutely looks really bad. I'm really nervous bout diving off a diving block when I have meets and stuff. Can someone give me tips on how to dive off a block properly, and any tips on how to dive farther even though I'm short and the other girls r pretty tall. Thanks guys 
Since it seems so "stiff" under your feet, it's alot scarier than it needs to be, but just keep in mind that it's not going anywhere, and that you're safe. You need to bend forward at the waist, and depending on the dive, you can either squat, or stand as you dive off. If you're squatting, use your legs to sort of push yourself off the block, streamlining straight into the water. Also keep in mind to have your arms squeezed tight above your head (the insides of your elbows should be squeezed against your ears and your hands should overlap eachother, creating a turtle). If you're standing, make sure you jump off the platform but then straight down, so you go into the water vertically. Do not go laterally, or else you will result in a belly flop (OUCH) and it will be very painful. Remember, vertically, and the order of contact, should be hands first, head next, then shoulders, waist, legs, and lastly feet (toes pointed is good).
