Bobcaygeon is home to Lock 34 of the Trent-Severn Waterway. What an opportunity for anyone who has never experienced the swing bridge of the lock system. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the canal and the diversity of boats that use the lock system to travel from one body of water to another. If your idea of community living includes images of smaller town charm, friendly people and the spectacular beauty of nature, then investigating Bobcaygeon is a must on your list of residential options. Bobcaygeon was given the name of “shallow rapids” by the Algonquin Indian tribe. Indian history is abundant in the Kawarthas and some of the history remains at the Whetung Ojibawa Centre’s annual Pow Wow, the notable Canadian Canoe Museum and through guided walks with Aboriginal Adventures.

If your ideal residential location includes being close to the greater Toronto area or a smaller city, the Kawartha Lakes communities offers that option.
