how do i find out what local beaches and bays are safe or unsafe to swim in?
I would like to swim in Bay Shore (at Long Beach) and Seal Beach.

The best websites for water quality are Surfrider Foundation and Heal the Bay.
Long Beach beaches are some of the most polluted in the state. The port and the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers dump tons of gross stuff in the water.
In Seal Beach you have to deal with more than a usual amount of jellyfish because of the Warm Water coming from the power plant.
Crystal Cove State Park north of Laguna beach received A's for water quality.
