is it physically possible for a tailor to take in a size medium or large jacket to a Size Small or xtra small?
just wondering because ive seen quite nice designer stuff on sale online but they tend to be bigger sizes and im smaller, just wondering if i take like a medium or Large Size mens jacket to a tailor, will they be able to take it in to a small or extra small fit?
Really? can they make a Large size jacket fit like an extra small size jacket? can they really take that much fabric in?
They should be able too, though it may cost a little more than usual if the size change is dramatic. However, it is fairly easy to go from a larger size to a smaller size, as opposed to attempting to making a smaller garment larger.
Edit in response to poster's edit: What would likely happen would not be simply taking it in, but instead the tailor would deconstruct the majority of the garment, resize the different pieces as necessary and then reconstruct it in the smaller size. If you're really concerned about it, talk to your tailer about what they can/will do before you purchase anything in a larger size.
