Surfing/ surfboard selection help?
I have (very) recently learned how to surf and I'm really into it, and I want to have a board of my own. I have also decided that I don't like longboards, and I want a shortboard of my own. I'm around 5'4'' and 115ish lbs. is this board a good board for my height and weight? Or just a good board period?

Well, since you are new to surfing, there is a lot you still need to know. Just because you dont like longboards doesnt mean you should just go out on the internet and buy a shortboard. Shortboards are a lot less buoyant than longboards, so they are a lot harder to paddle. Beginners need the extra buoyancy to catch the wave because they have not developed the muscles, timing, and skills to surf on a shortboard.
Longboards are actually great boards. Think of all the good things that longboards do before you go out and say you dont like them. Longboards are better for beginners than shortboards because they paddle into waves easier and have more stability. On those days when the waves start far out but break right on the shore, longboards can surf those waves. Shortboards cant. They can also surf smaller, flatter days that shortboards cant. With a longboard, you can start farther out in the line up, which will give you a longer ride. Shortboards have shorter rides and you usually have to pump for speed.
Now even if you are going to ignore the longboarding part, please do not ignore this. Go to a surf shop to get your board. Never buy boards online and never get pop out boards. When buying your board, go to the shop and ask the guys there for some advice. They will get you a good board for your skill level, weight, and local break. They know the break better than anyone here online. And there is nothing wrong with buying used boards from the shop. They will never sell you a used board that is in a bad condition.
So, that board that you are looking at is not really a good board for you. Shortboards are not beginner boards. Even if you dont want a long board, consider mini mals and fun boards. They are fun too. With that board shortboard, you would be sitting out in the line up for ever trying to get some waves but you cant. Then you get frustrated and dont want to surf anymore. Besides, you shouldnt be buying boards online anyway, so I suggest you go to the local surf shop. You probably will be able to surf that board eventually, but it will take a VERY long time.
Remember that almost every good surfer has a longboard in their quiver, wetaher it is for those flat days or just cruising and having fun, longboards are really great boards. I surf mostly shortboards and fish but I still use longboards too.
