Has any one used a ranger to haul a camper that weighs around 47000+cargo like i am?
It seems like i never see a ranger haul a camper. Is it because the truck cant do it or what. Im under the weight limit the book says to haul but to climb hills i get the rpm past like 4 sometimes. So i was wondering if i should consider getting an F-150. By the way i have the 4 L model that can supposedly haul 5840 or something.

you are correct, a properly equipped ranger can tow up to 5840lbs, but that does not mean that you will be able to pull steep hills at hwy speeds. with the weight of the trailer you will want to have the transmission in drive (not over drive) or if its a standard trans. in third or 4 gear when you are traveling up long or steep hills. this allows the engine to operate in its power range.
if you want to be able to pull the hills at highway speed you will need to get a bigger more powerful tow rig. if you plan on doing a lot of towing, then my suggestion is to check out 3/4 ton diesel powered trucks. they do an excellent job as a tow rig and will give you better mpg both loaded and empty.
