Is it okay for me to try out for volleyball in regular tennis shoes?
I haven't bought a pair of volleyball shoes yet because I don't know if I'll make the team. I'm not planning on buying any before tryouts which are next week and I've gone to open gyms with the shoes I'm planning to use and haven't encountered problems.
Of course it's ok! In truth, it's actually a really smart thing to do. Volleyball shoes are very expensive and there's no reason to buy a pair and waste money unless you're 100% sure you're going to make the team. As for your tennis shoes, just make sure that they have good traction and won't make you slip and slide when you're playing. A good way to fix the shoes if they do have this problem is to just wipe the bottom of the shoes with a wet towel to get rid of the dirt. They should work just fine. If you do make the team though, I would most definitely recommend getting a pair of volleyball shoes. Good luck at tryouts!
