where can I buy a muff? or muffler? hand warmer?!?
I recall my grandmother had a secretary bookcase with an always locked glass door with a picture of her grandmother or great-grandmother wearing a muff.
Just like a few other fashion accessories like white gloves, those may be hard or impossible to find. If you're looking for a theatrical play, I'd suggest looking at old pictures and making your own. While I'm sure the originals were lined with silk or maybe even fur, if you're going for looks, it'd only need look good.
A hand warmer as a couple of others have mentioned isn't the same thing as a muff. There was something that came out maybe in the 1930-40s and now can be bought as a reproduction. It's slightly smaller than a pack of cigarettes, is designed to fill with lighter fluid and lit. It was then placed in a cloth sack and did a good job of keeping your hands warm. I bet it burned out more than a few coats in its day as well.
