Should a wetsuit be really really tight?
I just bought a women's £130 winter wetsuit for surfing. It is REALLY REALLY tight! But the man in the shop said that the size above thtat I tried on was too loose because a wetsuit should be really tight...
Is he right? Is it right that I got the small one? (even though it's SO hard to put on.... And the next size up was only a tiny little bit too big)

I'm just worried because I'm only 15 and am still growing and don't wanna grow out of this suit really fast because it was really expensive !
a wetsuit that's at all big on you is totally worthless, so it sounds like you got the right size. your suit needs to be skintight to prevent cold water from coming in. that's how wetsuits work. it should feel like a 2nd skin, and yet be flexible enough so that you can move your arms and legs well enough to surf. if the next size up was a tiny bit too big on dry land it would've been waaay to big in the water. the neoprene gives a fair bit when it's wet and any amount of space between the suit and your skin would only end up bunching up or ballooning with icy cold water. you don't want that. hang in there. you'll get used to it and in time even love being in your suit. pretend you're a superhero. as a surfer you sort of are one.
